dan is a rockstar!

I'm sure a lot of you already know this but my boyfriend, Dan, and I met about 2 1/2 years ago in photography school. He graduated with a degree in Commercial Photography .. which not many people realize that it's such a hard field to get into. Almost everyone these days has to start at the bottom as an assistant and work their way up .. which is exactly what Dan has been doing since we moved back to Indy. He's been running errands, moving lights, picking up lenses, moving more lights, doing freelance architecture, basically working his butt off .. all while having a full time job on top of it! :) It's finally starting to pay off with some amazing opportunities he's been given the past few weeks!

One of them happened to be assisting with a shoot for ESPN magazine. This cover photo of Greg Oden is one of the photos he helped out with! He assisted Chris Kolk, an amazing fashion photographer out of New York City.

And speaking of New York City! Dan is on a plane as I type this, flying first class nonetheless, to assist with a commercial shoot for FAO Schwartz. Neither of us have been to New York before so I can't wait to hear all about it. He'll be back Friday night just in time for our big weekend .. we have two weddings! :)

Oh and one last thing we're totally excited about! He got hired to photograph landscapes for a huge landscaping company here out of Indy. That gig is so exciting because he's the main cheese! I'm the little assistant for those jobs! ;) haha!

I'm just so psyched he's been getting these opportunities, getting the chance to work with these amazing photographers, traveling, and doing what he loves! It's so exciting! :D

whitney & chuck

Last week I had the chance to photograph Whitney & Chuck's engagement session. The same morning the rain was coming down like crazy and I was so worried we wouldn't be able to get their pictures in. Luckily, everything cleared off and we had great weather (and beautiful light!). :) We headed to Broadripple (which is one of my favorite places in Indy) for their pictures and a little Starbucks. :)

Thanks, Whitney & Chuck for being so much fun! I can't wait until September to photograph your wedding! :)

    reagan is 10 months!

Let me just preface this that these are the cutest photos you will see all day. ;)

Moving on! :D This past Monday the family got together for our usual Monday night grill-age. My oh-so-cute niece, Reagan, made an appearance and luckily 'crazy Aunt Nicole' had her camera.

It's no lie .. Reagan likes to eat (but who doesn't, right?). We cut up some watermelon into a few little bites but that wasn't good enough for her .. she wanted to whole thing like everyone else! The photos below were the result .. only the cutest I've taken of her! She was working the camera like it was her job. :) She's such a ham!

I'm not even going to tell you how many I took of her because you guys really will think I'm "crazy Aunt Nicole." :) Lets just say I had a really hard time picking only 8 to post. :) Enjoy!

Is this not the most precious thing you've ever seen?!

This fancy hairstyle was a result of her putting the watermelon on her head instead of in her mouth. :)

    baby davin

I got the opportunity to photograph Davin at the hospital last week in the NICU. His grandmother contacted me since I am a part of The American Child Photographers Charity Guild. The ACPCG is a group of photographers who offer a complimentary photo shoot for parents who are experiencing early infant loss, children who are critically ill and for newborns that are extremely premature.

Davin was born back in April weighing in at only 2 pounds!! He is doing great, fighting every day. He was up to 5 pounds the day I got to photograph him. As we were leaving, the nurse was teaching his parents how to insert a feeding tube because was on his way home the next day!

He is just absolutely adorable! I wish him and his family the best. Thanks so much for letting me photograph your little miracle!

    hana & mark

I got to help out the wonderful Shelly Valentine with another beautiful wedding a few weeks ago. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was. Hana & Mark had a traditional Muslim wedding held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom and it was a total party! The entire night was filled with dancing, eating fantastic food and tons more dancing. It was one of the best weddings I have ever been to!

Here are my favorties from the day..

    1 road trip & 110.00 later..

Dan and I have no self control. Check out what we bought yesterday. I have a tiny obsession with old cameras so we spent our entire Sunday afternoon on a hunt. I couldn't believe how many we found. We even had to make ourselfs put cameras back. We are definitely nuts! :) It was so much fun searching though. We are already planning our next trip. :D I can't wait!

    lea & bob

I shot with Matt Gordon again last weekend! We photographed Bob & Lea's wedding. Their ceremony and reception were both held on the campus of Wabash College. It was an absolutely beautiful day. The forcasted rain even held off .. which in return gave us the perfect light for photos! :) Congrats to Lea & Bob!
